Western Star 8x4 WT30 Water Truck Build Review – Proven Platform, Future Ready

Western Star 8x4 WT30 Water Truck Build Review – Proven Platform, Future Ready

At Any Type Trucks, we build water carts that perform under pressure—day in, day out. This review showcases one of our most trusted civil and mining configurations: the Western Star 8x4 4784 chassis paired with our WT30 18,000L Tank. It’s a legacy platform that’s earned its place across Queensland job sites for one reason—it works.

And while this model continues to be a dependable performer, we’re already preparing for what comes next. The newly released Western Star 47X platform takes everything great about the 4784 and pushes it to the next level—making it an exciting evolution for future builds.

🚛 The Build Platform: Western Star 4784 – Cummins Power. Allison Dependability.

The Western Star 4784 8x4 twin steer chassis has long been a benchmark in high-capacity vocational fleets, particularly for water carts operating in demanding environments. Under the hood, this unit is powered by a Cummins diesel engine, trusted across the industry for its torque, durability, and low-end power.

Matched with a 6-speed Allison automatic transmission, this drivetrain combination is built for frequent stop-start operation, varied loads, and on-site resilience. The Allison gearbox ensures smooth shifts, reduced drivetrain wear, and lower fatigue for operators managing spray systems, cannons, and haul road conditions.

Together, the Cummins + Allison pairing delivers:

Excellent fuel efficiency across duty cycles

Responsive performance under load

Reduced maintenance compared to manual drivetrains

Long-term value across mining, civil, and construction projects

Whether you're hauling water through a pit or dust-suppressing a regional road, this setup is the proven choice for reliable operation.

💧 WT30 Tank Package – 18,000L Built to Last
