Gravity Spray or Dribble Bar? Why Not Both.

Gravity Spray or Dribble Bar? Why Not Both.

Gravity Sprays vs Dribble Bars — What We’re Testing on Our Latest Water Truck Builds

At Any Type Trucks, we build gear that works the way operators actually use it. That means tough, simple where it counts — and smart upgrades where they make a difference.

Right now, we’re testing a new spray setup on select water truck builds that gives operators the option to switch between gravity sprays and dribble bars — depending on the job.

🚿 Gravity Sprays vs Dribble Bars: What’s the Difference?

Gravity Sprays

A tried-and-true system where water drops straight from the tank under gravity. It’s a go-to for:

  • Dust suppression on rural tracks or worksites

  • No-frills reliability

  • Quick, low-maintenance operation

Dribble Bars (Our Custom Setup)

We’re not using a traditional full-width bar. Instead, our test setup includes two independent bars, one mounted off each gravity spray point. Each is precision-drilled to provide consistent spread across both sides of the truck.

The best part? They’re mounted using Rollgroove (Victaulic-style) fittings — so:

  • You can remove and clean each bar with a basic shifter

  • They’re less prone to blockage than standard fixed bars

  • You still get a clean, controlled flow when you need it

🧪 Why We’re Testing This

Operators told us they wanted more flexibility — without compromising reliability.

So we’ve designed a setup that allows:

  • Swapping between gravity and dribble mode with minimal downtime

  • Simpler maintenance compared to traditional dribble bars

  • A better fit for both dust suppression and road prep work

It’s not tool-free, but it is field-friendly — a shifter is all you need to remove or service the dribble bars on site.

✅ What We’re Working Toward

  • More versatility in one build

  • Faster cleaning and fewer clogs

  • Less downtime when switching spray types

We're still in the testing phase — trialling this setup on live jobs and taking on operator feedback to refine it before wider rollout.

Final Word

This isn’t about making change for the sake of it. It’s about solving a real jobsite challenge with a smarter, simpler system — and making sure it holds up before we go all in.

If you want to know more about how we’re building this out — or want to be part of the trial group — give us a shout. As always, we’re building trucks that work hard, hold up, and suit the way you run your site.
