At Any Type Trucks, we build gear that works the way operators actually use it. That means reliable where it counts — and practical upgrades where they make a genuine difference in the field.
One area we've been refining is the spray setup on our water truck builds — developing a configuration that gives operators the option to work in gravity spray mode or dribble bar mode, depending on the task.
Gravity Sprays vs Dribble Bars: What's the Difference?
Gravity Sprays
A gravity spray system delivers water directly from the tank under gravity — no pump required for basic discharge. It's a straightforward, low-maintenance setup commonly used for dust suppression on access roads and civil worksites. Simple to operate and easy to service in the field.
Dribble Bars — Our Current Test Setup
Rather than a traditional full-width fixed bar, our current test configuration uses two independent bars — one mounted off each gravity spray point. Each bar is precision-drilled for consistent spread across both sides of the truck.
The bars are mounted using Rollgroove (Victaulic-style) fittings, which means:
- Each bar can be removed and cleaned with a basic shifter
- They're designed to be less prone to blockage than some standard fixed bar configurations
- You retain a clean, controlled flow when you need it
It's not tool-free, but it is field-friendly — a shifter is all you need to remove or service the bars on site.
Why We're Testing This Configuration
Operators across civil projects in Queensland and beyond have told us they want more flexibility in their spray setups — without adding complexity or maintenance overhead. This configuration is designed to allow:
- Switching between gravity and dribble bar mode with minimal downtime
- Simpler field maintenance compared to traditional fixed dribble bar setups
- Flexibility across different task types — dust suppression, road prep, haul road maintenance
Where We're At
We're currently trialling this setup on live jobs and gathering operator feedback before we consider wider rollout. This isn't about changing things for the sake of it — it's about confirming that the design holds up under real operating conditions before we commit to it as a standard offering.
If you're interested in this setup, or want to talk through spray configuration options for a current or upcoming build, get in touch with the team.
Note: spray system configurations vary by build. The right setup for your application depends on your operational requirements — we work through those with you during the spec process.
